About these reaction tools
Reaction activities measure the interval between a browser cue and a recorded response. BrainMeter separates simple visual, visual-grid, audio, choice, and reflex formats because noticing a signal, deciding what it means, and moving to the correct control can add different steps.
Reaction results combine noticing the cue, deciding what to do, moving a finger or hand, and the device registering input. Choice tasks add a decision step; audio and visual cues use different output paths. Consistent posture and input hardware make comparisons more meaningful.

How reaction scores work
The primary measurement
Average response time in milliseconds is the main category measure. After each unpredictable cue, BrainMeter subtracts the signal timestamp from the input timestamp using the browser’s monotonic performance clock. It averages valid attempts, records median, fastest, and slowest values, adds a penalty for an incorrect choice, and tracks false starts separately.
Lower milliseconds indicate a quicker recorded response in this browser session, but the most useful result is a stable set of valid attempts. Compare the average and median, note unusually slow trials, and repeat under similar conditions instead of focusing only on the fastest click.

Wait for the cue and prioritize valid responses before trying to reduce milliseconds.
